Capital Projects
Through the vision and commitment of our founders, Susan and Michael Ashner, Beit Ruth began as a shelter for 12 girls in a rented youth hostel near Tel Aviv and has grown with their continued leadership and an expanding community of champions and partners. Now on four acres in the North of Israel, Beit Ruth is home to 75 girls and young women at risk in a given year. Our five nurturing home-like residences and on-site school surrounded by flowering gardens, covered patios, a physical fitness center, quiet house and vocational learning facilities is a place where they can heal, learn and build better lives. Our on-site Center of Knowledge extends Beit Ruth’s impact beyond the Village through advocacy and training enabling professionals to apply our recognized model of care on behalf of girls and young women at risk throughout Israel and the developing world.

BUILDING FOR BETTER LIVES
In 2022, Beit Ruth completed construction on Houses #four and #five, bringing us more than halfway toward our long-term plan of eight houses in the Village to provide onsite comprehensive care and education to approximately 120 girls in a year.
Each two-story, modern residential house includes five bedrooms, rooms for overnight House Counselors, a Social Worker’s office, communal living room, laundry room and bathrooms, a state-of-the-art safe room, dining area and spacious kitchen as well as tranquil outdoor living space.
Every new home within the Beit Ruth Village widens our safety net, ensuring more girls are not living on the streets or within abusive families. More girls will receive the critical therapeutic care, quality education and opportunities to develop career and life skills to thrive emotionally, socially, academically and financially — thereby breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect for themselves and future generations and enabling them to contribute to the strength and future of Israel.
Today, Beit Ruth is at capacity. We now look to our next phase of Capital Growth to meet this moment of national resilience.
In the wake of October 7, the needs and numbers of girls and young women facing physical, emotional, and sexual violence have surged. The need for Beit Ruth’s transformative, trauma-informed care and education has never been higher. This next chapter in Beit Ruth’s Capital Growth is slated to include Residences #6 and #7, a Student Union, and a house for Shinshiniot, National Service volunteers who spend a year supporting our Village residents and professional team in their transformative work.
With ongoing investments from our friends and supporters, we will continue to make operational, capital, and programmatic strides that will increase our impact in saving and transforming the lives of vulnerable and at-risk girls and young women now and for the future in Israel.
