Role at Tufts University’s European Center Builds Our Community of Supporters
Through our partnership with Tufts University; Fabian Bachrach, Tufts alum and recipient of our 2024 Spirt of Beit Ruth Award; and the Beit Ruth-Tufts International Fellowship, Danielle Burenstein was invited to participate at Tufts University’s International Women’s Summit this fall at Tufts’ European Center in Talloires, France. Danielle spoke on Beit Ruth’s work, our partnership with Tufts and the expanded reach and impact of Beit Ruth beyond the Village.
Danielle made presentations at two separate forums.
To Tufts International Board of Advisors — she spoke about:
the ‘mutual value of the Fellowship, which provides valuable feedback and insights on Beit Ruth’s model of care AND provides Tufts students with a real-world setting for learning. Beit Ruth serves as a positive example of the benefits of such Fellowships.
the power of such partnerships to benefit students and girls/young women at risk far beyond the confines of Tufts University and Beit Ruth Village, respectively.
To Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition, Science and Policy International Women of Influence Health and Wellbeing Roundtable — Danielle presented on the role of food and nutrition, and how they relate to therapeutic best practices, in caring for girls and young women at Beit Ruth. Food is a vehicle to building trust, comfort, cultural understanding, career opportunity, a sense of home and above all love.
Our presentations were well received, with listeners’ reactions ranging from being visibly moved and asking thoughtful questions to discussions about deepening this university partnership and attendees getting involved in Beit Ruth.
We thank our partners at Tufts; our champion, Fabia Bachrach, and the extraordinary professionals at the Beit Ruth Village, who provide the trauma-informed care and facilitate Tufts Fellowship activity in the Village that lead to the insights we shared at these forums and enable us to build on Beit Ruth’s reputation, drive visibility, and deepen this university partnership.
